Volunteer Code of Conduct
Like Dat Youth Connections (LDYC) is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and protective environment for youth ages 16–21, staff, and community members.
Volunteer Expectations
All volunteers are required to:
- Conduct themselves professionally and respectfully at all times
- Maintain clear and appropriate boundaries with youth participants
- Follow all LDYC policies, procedures, and staff direction
- Protect participant confidentiality and privacy
- Avoid any behavior that could be perceived as favoritism, exploitation, or inappropriate attention
- Refrain from harassment, discrimination, or any form of sexual, romantic, or abusive conduct
Youth Protection
Volunteers may not:
- Engage in one-on-one interactions with youth without prior authorization from staff
- Provide clinical, therapeutic, or medical services
- Promise outcomes, employment, or services
- Exchange personal contact information or social media connections without staff approval
- Engage in any romantic, sexual, or otherwise inappropriate relationships with youth participants
- Behave in a manner that could compromise youth safety or well-being
Any violation of these rules will result in immediate removal from volunteer duties and potential reporting to legal authorities.
Screening & Training
Volunteer participation may require:
- Orientation or training that includes youth protection and boundary expectations
- Background checks and reference verification
- Additional documentation depending on role and funding requirements
LDYC reserves the right to deny or terminate volunteer participation at any time for violations or safety concerns.
Reporting Concerns
Volunteers must immediately report any safety concerns, boundary issues, or suspected misconduct to LDYC staff. Reports will be handled confidentially and promptly.
Acknowledgement
By volunteering with LDYC, individuals acknowledge and agree to fully comply with this Code of Conduct and the organization’s strict youth protection policies.
